He established Perusahaan Seri Melati with the objective of providing the best fiberglass boats in the country to the general public, booming industrial sectors, and government stakeholders who needed his expertise.
Originally operating from a makeshift workshop at his home in Kampong Sengkarai, operations relocated to Kuala Tutong after obtaining a land facility through His Majesty's government. The new site, near the estuary of the Tutong River where it meets the South China Sea, was ideal for testing any watercraft built there. PSM explored innovative approaches through extensive trials, research, and feedback from local fishermen, boat owners, and government agencies.
With ever-growing demand for PSM's quality fiberglass boat work, Hj Abd Rashid bin Hj Mahmood launched the 'AMIRA' brand of boats. Following in his late father's footsteps, he expanded PSM's fiberglass fabrication into other applications within the building and development sector, with the same passion for new techniques and ideas.
